Detoxification
This is the most intensive level of care Willingway provides. Patients
are managed around the clock by medical and nursing staff to provide a
safe detoxification. The overall treatment plan is initiated, an assessment
which includes medical, nursing, nutritional, psychosocial, psychological
and psychiatric history. Upon admission, each patient is assigned an individual
counselor. Willingway's detoxification unit is equipped to handle most
acute medical situations and for more than 20 years has provided the most
safe and consistent model of medical intervention available. The unique
design of this specialized unit allows for direct staff observation 24
hours a day.
Inpatient/Residential
At this level of care, physicians and nurses continue to monitor the patient's
treatment. The focus of treatment is on emotional stabilization, education
about the illness, development of recovery resources and skills, and personal
adoption of recovery principles. Patients, as a group, are encouraged
to build a healthy community and interact with one another to learn and
practice the tools necessary to sustain ongoing recovery. Individual counselors
are assigned, according to gender, to work with the patient to monitor
the patient's progress in meeting identified treatment plan problems.
Continuing care plans, which are begun upon admission, are constantly
monitored and changed to fit the patient's needs. Communication with referral
sources and family is ongoing throughout this phase of treatment. Willingway's
program was designed to recognize the importance of family involvement
in the treatment process. Private rooms are available, which enable the
patient's spouse or other family members to participate in the family
program. At the appropriate time, family members come to Willingway for
several days and take part in structured educational and family counseling
sessions.
Day Treatment/Partial Hospitalization
This level of treatment is available for patients who no longer need 24-hour,
around the clock care, but do need more structure than outpatient treatment
would provide. This phase of treatment takes advantage of a safe and supportive
home environment which allows the patient to spend the night at home.
Day treatment, which runs seven days a week, can be from several hours
a day to a full day depending on the patient's clinical needs.
Intensive Outpatient
This evening program, which provides at least 10 hours of therapy a week,
includes a combination of educational groups and process groups. Each
patient is assigned an individual counselor with whom the patient meets
regularly to continue to work on issues identified in treatment and to
monitor progress in meeting treatment plan objectives.
Individual Outpatient Counseling
The most motivated patient who is currently living in a supportive and
stable environment can benefit from a less intensive level of care which
includes individual and group counseling. In this level of care, patients
must be able to integrate successfully into a 12-step recovery group with
minimal supervision of an outpatient counselor who will provide individual
sessions on an as needed basis.
Extended Treatment
Willingway Hospital operates extended treatment programs for men and women.
Both the Men's Lodge and the Women's Residence are designed for patients
who need long-term treatment for their addiction in order to establish
a solid recovery program. While living in a structured, supportive, home-like
environment, patients begin to assume responsibilities for daily living
activities. Patients attend daily group counseling and are involved in
12-step work. They attend community 12-step meetings and many of the services
available at Willingway Hospital are also made available to the patients
in the extended treatment programs.
Continuing Care
Willingway Hospital outlines a written, structured plan to provide support
for persons returning home from treatment. Staff recommendations, as well
as patient's individual plans, are incorporated into the continuing care
plan. This bridge to the vital 12-step program of recovery extends the
patient's treatment experience and serves as a transition from higher
levels of care to reliance on the recovering community. Click
