Continuum of Care
Willingway Hospital offers a full continuum of care for alcoholism and drug addiction, ensuring patients are placed in the most appropriate level of treatment depending on the severity of their illness. While each treatment program is tailored to the specific needs of the individual, Willingway has a core substance abuse recovery program which includes:
• The Open Door Detoxification Program is the most intensive level of care Willingway provides. Our detoxification unit is equipped to handle most acute medical situations and for more than 40 years has provided the safest and most consistent method of medical intervention available. Evaluations and Assessments are made for the recommendation of further treatment options.
• Inpatient/Residential treatment focuses on emotional stabilization, education about the illness, development of recovery resources and skills, and personal adoption of recovery principles. Day Treatment/Partial Hospitalization is available for patients who no longer need 24-hour, around-the-clock care but do need more structure than outpatient treatment provides.
• Extended Treatment is Willingway Hospital's longer-term solution for recovering men and women. Both the Men's Lodge and the Women's Residence are designed for patients who need extended treatment for their addiction in order to establish a solid recovery program. While living in a structured, supportive, home-like environment, patients begin to assume responsibilities for daily living activities. Patients attend group and individual counseling and are involved in 12-step work. They attend community 12-step meetings, and many of the services available at Willingway Hospital are also available to the patients in the extended treatment programs. Tour the facilities.
• Intensive Outpatient is an evening program providing at least 10 hours of therapy a week. The work includes a combination of didactic (educational), group and individual therapy.
• Family Program is an essential element in maintaining sobriety. A patient's spouse and other family members are expected to stay with the patient during the last few days of hospital care. Together, they participate in education programs, meetings with the attending physician and counselors, aftercare conferences and family counseling sessions.
• Aftercare is a plan that is jointly devised with the patient and counselor. It involves attending AA/NA meetings, having a sponsor, and living in a non-toxic environment conducive to a positive recovery. Experience has shown that those who follow our aftercare plan are more likely to maintain sobriety.
